In 1960, Arslan Hajiev opened a small monument workshop at the central cemetery in Makhachkala, the capital of Dagestan. Working with locally quarried stone and simple hand tools, he built a reputation for meticulous craftsmanship and deeply personal service. Every memorial he created was treated as a sacred responsibility — a philosophy that defined his work for decades.

As word of his artistry spread, what began as a modest workshop grew into Hajiev Stones, a respected name in the Caucasus region. Arslan passed his skills to his sons, who apprenticed beside him from childhood — learning to read the grain of granite, to shape curves that would endure centuries of weather, and to listen to the stories families shared about their loved ones.

After the collapse of the Soviet Union, Hajiev Stones became a private enterprise. The family saw an opportunity to serve a larger community. They expanded their sourcing to premium quarries in India, China, and Scandinavia, and invested in modern CNC machinery and laser etching technology — without ever abandoning the hand-finishing techniques that made their work distinctive.

Today, Memory Headstones is a cornerstone of the H Memorial Group, a family of memorial brands that includes Memoria Columbaria, Legacy Bronze, H Stones, and Monument Service Group. Together, we serve families in all 50 United States from 20 locations, combining three generations of stone-carving heritage with cutting-edge 3D design tools and nationwide logistics.
