Artist’s Palette Granite Headstone

The Artist's Palette Granite Headstone is a shaped headstone carved in the form of a traditional painter's palette with a paintbrush, measuring 24 × 3 × 28 inches for standard single-grave cemetery plots. It honors a painter, illustrator, graphic designer, art teacher, muralist, or any person whose life was defined by creativity — who saw the world as a canvas and left colour everywhere they went.

The stone is carved to follow the organic silhouette of a hand-held palette with a thumb hole and paintbrush lying across the lower edge. The palette's mixing wells are suggested by shallow relief, and the brush handle tapers naturally from the stone. The polished surface of the palette face — the widest area of the stone — holds names, birth and death years, a brief artistic quotation, and an inscription such as "She Painted the World She Wished to See," "His Canvas Was Life," "Every Day a New Colour," or "The Brush Has Rested, but the Work Endures." A laser-etched portrait or a reproduction of the person's own artwork can be included on approval.

At 24 × 28 inches this headstone suits the footprint of standard single-grave lots, including most Catholic, Protestant, non-denominational, and municipal cemetery sections that permit artistic-shaped upright markers. Our cemetery coordination team verifies the specific allowable profile and dimensions for your plot, confirms foundation or setting-bed requirements, and handles installation scheduling directly with the cemetery.

Available in seven granite colors: Galaxy Black (maximum contrast for inscription lettering and portrait detail), Indian Black (very fine grain, extremely deep polish), Grey (subtle and universally accepted), Bahama Blue (cool blue-grey background that evokes a painter's sky), Bahama Blue Light (lighter, watercolour-like tone), Indian Red (warm terracotta reminiscent of earth pigments and ochre), and Paradiso Old (multi-colour swirl — the most literally "painterly" of our granite options, with natural teal, burgundy, and grey). Paradiso Old and Galaxy Black are especially requested for this memorial design.

Every order includes a free 3D digital design proof with unlimited revisions — including approval of any custom artwork or portrait placement — before any carving begins. Sandblasted engraving is cut 3–5 mm deep for multi-generational outdoor durability. Memory Headstones has crafted granite memorials since 1960 through three generations of family craftsmanship.
