The Celtic Cross Flat Granite Grave Marker is a low-profile flat grave marker featuring an engraved Celtic cross — one of the oldest and most beloved symbols of Irish, Scottish, and Welsh Christianity. The Celtic cross, also called a ringed cross or Irish cross, is distinguished by a nimbus (ring or halo) connecting the four arms at the intersection. Scholars trace its origins to the stone high crosses of early Irish monasteries such as Clonmacnoise, Monasterboice, and Iona (8th–12th centuries), where the ring may have served both as a structural support and as a symbol of the eternal sun-wheel of Druidic tradition sanctified by the Christian cross — a synthesis of pre-Christian Celtic cosmology and the Gospel of Christ.
