Companion Cross Panel Granite Headstone

The Companion Cross Panel Granite Headstone is a wide double-panel upright memorial designed to honor two loved ones through the enduring symbols of Christian faith. The contemporary design features a raised centre section with a recessed panel and a hand-carved cross — balancing modern architectural lines with the most universal symbol of Christianity. The Latin cross at the centre has been the primary Christian funerary symbol since the early Church, present in the catacombs of Rome (2nd–4th centuries), the marble sarcophagi of the Byzantine era, and every Christian cemetery tradition worldwide since.

The companion format separates the memorial into two inscription panels — one for each person — joined by the shared cross that stands between them. Each panel accommodates a full name, complete birth and death dates, a portrait medallion (Galaxy Black recommended for clearest laser-etching), scripture verses, and a personal epitaph. Couples often choose complementary inscriptions — for example: "He led with faith" / "She led with love," or "Together they walked with God" as a shared header. The raised centre section creates architectural depth and visual weight appropriate to the memorial's purpose.

Cross variant options for the carved panel: Latin cross (plain, most widely recognised), cross with crown of thorns, cross with open Bible, budded or trefoil-tip cross (common in Anglican and Episcopal memorial traditions), and Calvary cross (three ascending steps representing faith, hope, and charity). Specify your preferred variant at time of order.

The companion format (typically 42–48 inches wide) is designed for standard double-wide cemetery plots. Our cemetery coordination team verifies the exact allowable width, height, base size, and foundation requirements for your specific plot and cemetery before the stone ships, and handles installation scheduling directly.

Available in seven granite colors: Galaxy Black, Indian Black, Grey, Bahama Blue, Bahama Blue Light, Indian Red, and Paradiso Old. Grey is the most widely permitted colour in cemetery sections with colour restrictions; Galaxy Black provides maximum cross-carving and portrait contrast.
