Raised Flat Granite Grave Marker

Raised Flat Granite Grave Marker is a classic granite memorial designed to serve as a lasting tribute with dignity, grace, and clear visibility. Its raised rectangular profile — typically 24 × 12 × 6 inches — sits 2 to 3 inches above grade, providing better visibility than a traditional flush marker while remaining within the height limits enforced by most Catholic, municipal, and memorial park cemeteries. Weight is approximately 65 pounds, and foundation requirements are a standard concrete gravel bed prepared by the cemetery.

The spacious polished top surface provides ample room for personalized names, birth and death dates, portraits, religious symbols, fraternal emblems, artwork, and meaningful inscriptions. Laser-engraved photographic portraits render with exceptional detail on Galaxy Black granite, the most popular finish for portrait work. For traditional lettering and religious imagery, Grey, Indian Black, and Indian Red are consistently chosen finishes. This marker is available in seven genuine granite colors: Bahama Blue (deep ocean-blue tone with silver flecks, popular for serene tributes), Bahama Blue Light (lighter tropical blue-grey with a luminous sheen), Galaxy Black (jet-black with golden mineral specks, the highest-contrast surface for engraving), Grey (classic silver-grey with subtle crystalline veining), Indian Black (deep charcoal-black, refined and understated), Indian Red (warm rust-red with natural mineral variation), and Paradiso Old (a richly toned blend of emerald green, charcoal grey, and deep burgundy). Each finish is sourced from monument-grade granite and polished to a permanent mirror surface that resists weathering, staining, and fading across decades of outdoor use.

Raised flat markers are one of the most versatile grave monument styles because they suit a wide range of cemetery types and age groups. They are commonly used in Catholic family plots alongside upright monuments, as sole markers in garden memorial parks, and in municipal sections that allow a slight raised profile. Common inscription styles include Scripture (Romans 8:38–39, John 14:2–3), bilingual epitaphs for immigrant families, and fraternal or military emblems sandblasted beneath the name and dates.
